Punjab CM To Marry Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Today; Know Some Lesser Known Facts About Her

Chandigarh: Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Punjab, is all set to tie the knot in a private ceremony in Chandigarh on July 7. The 48-year-old Mann will be marrying Dr. Gurpreet Kaur.

It is to be noted that the Punjab CM, who happened to be a stand-up comedian prior to his entry into politics, was divorced six years ago.

Here are some lesser-known facts about Dr. Gurpreet Kaur

The 32-year-old Gurpreet Kaur and her family hails from Pehowa in the Kurukshetra district. Her father, Inderjit Singh, is a farmer while her mother, Mata Raj Kaur is a homemaker.

She has two sisters who stay abroad. It has been speculated that their families have been associated for years.

Her uncle, Gurinder Jeet, told the media that Gurpreet was a bright student who always excelled at his studies.

As per Gurinder, she studied at the Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College in Haryana's Maulana, where she was a gold medalist.

Ms. Kaur reportedly helped Bhagwant Mann during his campaign for the Punjab assembly elections.

Meanwhile, Inderpreet Kaur is the ex-wife of Bhagwant Mann. As per reports, Bhagwant and Inderpreet parted ways in 2015. Thereafter, Kaur left the country after their divorce.

Mann and Kaur are the parents of two children, a son, and a girl. The son's name is Dilshan Maan, and the daughter's name is Seerat Kaur Mann.

The reason behind their separation is not known. However, rumor had it that Mann was reportedly unable to dedicate enough time to his family after becoming a political figure, resulting in their divorce.

According to a post on Bhagwant Mann's Facebook page, his divorce was not motivated by personal issues, and he chose Punjab over his family. Mann, who is well-known in Parliament for his oratory, wrote a poem on his Facebook page.

Inderjeet said that both their children are elated and amazed at his resounding victory.

When Mann entered politics in 2011, he joined the Peoples' Party of Punjab (PPP), and Inderpreet actively engaged in PPP political rallies and campaigns.

Previously, the Punjab Chief Minister's wife, Inderpreet Kaur, campaigned for her husband in the Lok Sabha elections in 2014. She used to campaign for him in Sangrur villages, where Mann was elected as an AAP MP for the first time.
